More Borders on QOV quilt tops!

We've been busy getting these QOV quilt tops that were donated to our East Central IL QOV group from our June/August meetings, ALL ready to quilt, by bordering them out to size.

Here's the first of several:

All of these wonderful QOV quilt tops and several others, will soon be quilted into Quilts of Valor, to be awarded to our area East Central Illinois Veterans and Service Members.  Thanks to ALL who helped in any way to create these meaningful quilts!

QOV Mystery - Clue #1 finally begins!...w/Updates

Yes, we're running a tad late on this Quilt of Valor Mystery, to be sure!  Between unending torrential rains and thunderstorms w/lightning taking out our power, along with one of my main notebooks, been a little challenging of late to get things caught up and others started ;-)  But, start we have!

All ready to assemble Clue #1:

Clue #1 of our QOV Mystery ALL ready to stitch!

Chain piecing is a favorite of ours - LOTS can be accomplished in a brief time:

Chain piecing the flying geese units

And mass cutting of multiple units is another fav:

Cutting the 'wings' of the flying geese units

...and the actual 'geese' units

As I mentioned in a previous post, was considering 'changing out' some fabric(s), which I did!  Especially now that Clue #4 has just been released and I have a 'clue'/pun intended ;-)  where this QOV Mystery may be headed!

QOV Mystery Fabrics - swapped out the background for white w/dots,                                  swapped out the light for gold w/stars.  The other two fabrics stick with the original Mystery fabrics - ALL from my personal stash!

It's NOT too late to join in on this QOV Mystery FUN!  Just follow this direct weblink to our host and quilt designer, Alycia and her blog for ALL they Mystery details -

In between cutting/sewing/quilting and thunderstorms, got in some embroidery work, too.  This is one of several embroidery blocks that will be assembled into multiple Quilts of Valor...stay tuned!

Eagle embroidery

Time to sew!

UPDATE later that same day - ALL caught up to Clue #4:

Clues #1 - 4...All ready for Clue #5!
