June QOV Mystery Underway

Our latest Quilts of Valor Mystery is well underway, Thanks to our fearless QOV Leader, Alycia! Here's my results so far on Clue #1:

The 'sewing part' of Clue #1 complete - just need to finish some cutting ;-)
Even had some extras left over after sewing Clue #1 that I used to create HSTs.  The first Mystery Clue and the leftovers went together rather quickly, I'm happy to say:

Alycia's QOV instructions are fast & FUN - my kind of Mystery!  ALL the Mystery info may be found by following this direct web link:

Course - I still need to finish our previous Quilts of Valor Mystery!

Previous QOV Mystery - almost finished

I had planned on having our previous A2 Quilts of Valor Mystery finished up prior to starting our latest one, A3 but - sometimes life has other plans in store for us, doesn't it?

On Memorial Day, one of our very Valued QOVF Volunteer Members of East Central IL QOV, and my youngest daughter, Jaclyn, had an accident which resulted in ALL kinds of damage to her left knee. Last Wednesday she had extensive surgery to repair the damage.  This is what a bionic leg brace looks like:

With LOTS of Physical Therapy and hard work on her part, she should be good as new in a few weeks - Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers...Thank YOU!

June QOV Meeting Highlights w/Updates

What a great June meeting we had - complete with some NEW Group Leader faces:

Area Group Leaders drop-in to see what we're up to,
and for some Fast Start Training
These two fine ladies are already a wonderful asset to our Quilts of Valor Foundation, and especially our East Central Illinois area!  It was such a pleasure to get to meet them.  Looking forward to working with these enthusiastic QOVF Volunteers in the near future ;-).

And 'our Doris' with her Brand-NEW shoulder is back in her sewing saddle, bringing THREE (3) QOV quilt tops...Yeah, Doris!

Doris 'modeling' one of her recently completed QOV quilt tops (and my current fav ;-), w/Sue

QOV quilt top #1 - How neat are these patriotic fabrics
sprinkled with navy cornerstones!
Another Doris original:

#2 QOV quilt top - Americana woven fence rail
reminds me of an afternoon picnic complete w/apple pie!

I LOVE all of them BUT - this is my current fav:

QOV #3 quilt top - Indigo goes Patriotic!

The photo doesn't do this unique Indigo blue w/ALL kinds of patriotic fabrics justice - this one is so neat, and yours truly can hardly wait to get it bordered out and quilted!  Doris is now up to FORTY-FIVE (45) Quilts of Valor quilt tops created exclusively by her since September, 2014!!

Special Note:  Several of these indigo denim fabrics were generously donated by a strong supporter of our Quilts of Valor efforts through 4-H, and our Clark County 4-H Extension Program Coordinator, Cartha G...Thank YOU, Cartha - your unending support of 4-H and Quilts of Valor is so appreciated!

Another of our valued QOVF Volunteer Members, Sue - brought in some wonderful patriotic fabric w/marine motifs.

Wonderful patriotic Marine fabric traded in by Sue
I've already cut part of it into borders, the rest will be cut into 6" blocks, bordered out and put into a Quilt of Valor - NOTHING will go to waste!

And lastly, got a call from Lori of Lori's Pins N Needles in Paris, that a generous donor wished to contribute an American Valor quilt kit/Northcott, IF we would agree to create a Quilt of Valor from it and award to a local Illiana Veteran...NO worries!  We reserve our Valor quilt kits for our Purple Heart recipients - we have two to be awarded over the November, 2016 Veteran's Day Celebration:

Valor Quilt Kit donated by a generous donor -
Thank YOU, Joan (and Lori's!)
Naturally, while at Lori's, HAD to purchase some of the latest MODA patriotic fabric...saving that reveal for another blog post ;-)

In the's time to get busy cutting/sewing/quilting to ensure we have enough Quilts of Valor to award our area Service Members and Veterans over the next few months, including our Veteran's Day Celebration!

Thank YOU to Everyone who continues to support our East Central IL Quilts of Valor efforts - you will never know how much your generosity touches the lives of so many of our area's deserving Service Members and Veterans.
