Quilts of Valor Mystery/Leap Day finishes!...w/Updates

Getting to finish up our last two Quilts of Valor Mystery Clues, #3 & #4:

Alycia's Quilt of Valor Mystery Clues - #1, #2, #3 & #4!
Created borders for five (5) QOVs:

Freshly pressed QOV borders
Three of our Doris's Quilts of Valor quilt tops squared/pressed and ready for borders:

Three of Doris's QOV quilt tops ready for borders

One bordered out and ready to be quilted:

Another of Doris's Quilts of Valor quilt tops bordered out and ALL ready to quilt!

We're up to twenty-seven (27) Quilts of Valor quilt tops ALL bordered out and ready to go to the quilting machine to see 'Miss Betty'...just a few more and we're caught up ;-) (...for the time being, that is - NO telling just how many our Doris has been sewing while we've been creating/adding borders!) Keep sewing, Doris - there's still LOTS of Veterans and Service Members out their waiting to be awarded their Quilts of Valor!

UPDATE 3/3/2016:  Another of Doris's Quilt of Valor tops bordered out:

Patriotic Strip QOV of Doris's ALL bordered out

And I just have to mention - in the middle of sewing/attaching borders this afternoon, my phone rang and I had the extreme pleasure of getting a wonderful phone call from a NEW Quilt Of Valor quilty friend from Iowa, who phoned to just compare notes state-to-state...such a nice QOV surprise and a pleasure to 'meet you', Mary...keep those Quilts of Valor comin' - our Veterans and Service Members need them and especially you, and special quilty folks like you, to keep on keepin' on with our Mission:  "...To Cover Service Members and Veterans touched by war, with comforting and healing Quilts of Valor."  Thank YOU, Mary!

My Best to Each and Every One of You who take the time and effort out of your busy schedules to bring comfort and Honor upon our Veterans and Service Members.

Clue #1 of the A2 QOV Mystery is Finished on National Sew Day

After completing our first Quilt of Valor Mystery on Friday, A1/Stars A Waving by Alycia, got to take some time and complete our first Clue for our second QOV Mystery, A2:

Clue #1 of Quilt of Valor Mystery ready to be trimmed
This clue came together rather quickly, using one of my very favorite methods for creating HSTs - the Magic 8 Method:

Marked, pinned and ready to sew!
And the chain sewing begins:

Magic 8 units have been cut/marked/pinned and ready to chain sew
A close-up of this process:

Sewing 1/4" on each side of the marked lines
Once the sewing is complete, time to cut each Magic 8 unit into eight (8) Half-Square Triangles (HSTs) and press:

Pressed and ALL dog ears removed!
Time to get back to cutting borders and assembling the rest of those Allietare Mystery blocks:

Assembling Allietare Mystery blocks - up to 43 blocks now!

Enjoy your Super Bowl Sunday!
