QOVF Advancing Into the Next Decade w/Winning Strategies

Effective communication - without it, most people, along with whatever is close to their hearts, are doomed to failure, or at the very least, being misunderstood or even ignored.  Our QOVF Executive Director, Susan Gordon, exemplifies just how ALL of us benefit from sound, effective communications, especially while advancing the goals of an international organization, such as our Quilts of Valor Foundation.

Please read on to discover just how important and beneficial multiple modes of effective communications can enhance any organization - especially one with a strong foundations, such as ours, and help propel it into the next decade of growth and prosperity.

The Quilts of Valor ® Foundation
"Moving Forward" Series Message #3
From Susan Gordon

If you have ever built a house, you know it must be built on a strong foundation. Our Core Values are our foundation. An important next task during our team's months of planning was defining the elements needed to provide QOVF's structural integrity. Below are the priorities we identified, which I've annotated with information about follow-through during this calendar year.

Effective Communication
QOVF Threads: A consistent, high quality newsletter with a growing readership that keeps supporters and volunteers all over the world informed about the Foundation's activities.
E-blasts: Additional information distributed periodically so all are in the know about what is happening within and in support of Quilts of Valor Foundation.

Website: Our website team constantly updates information for you; work is under way on a new, more dynamic and user-friendly website.

Clear Core Values, Policies & Procedures
Core Values: Clearly defined and in print, reflecting the heart and soul of Quilts of Valor Foundation since its beginnings.

Policies & Procedures: A manual defining the Policies (the "whys" of what we do) and the Procedures (the "hows" of what we do), reviewed by conference delegates in draft form in Tennessee and Nevada. The finalized manual shared at the conferences and incorporating input from both events will be ready for you within the next few weeks.

Branding & Marketing
Trademarked Name and Product: To protect the quality of our name (Quilts of Valor ® Foundation,) what we make (Quilts of Valor ®), and our acronym for our product (QOV®), we have applied for and received trademark registration from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Commemorative Lapel Pin: For the first time in several years we have produced a handsome pin that identifies each of us as a volunteer and supporter of the QOVF mission. Of the 10,000 pins ordered, fewer than 600 are left.

Other Branding and Marketing items: On order are car magnets, QOVF note cards, "Supporter" patches, and QOVF logo patches.

Our top fundraising goal is to find national funding to share with QOVF's local, grassroots volunteers, the members of our community who make QOVs day in, day out, year-by-year, for our awardees. Watch for more national-level special fundraising events benefiting QOVF, with money made available to local groups for purchasing fabric and other supplies.

Look, also, for more special offers of fundraising items available to local groups (such as this year's lapel pin and after January first, the 2015 pin).
