Creating a very special WW II Quilt of Valor w/Updates

Recently we received a special nomination of a Quilt of Valor for a WW II Naval Veteran.  After receiving some incredible details regarding this honorable Veteran, we got busy and here are the results of our labors from the initial design/creation process to the final conclusion of this Quilt of Valor:
Laying out the blocks w/sashing and cornerstones
Close-up of 'star block' w/sashing options
Sewing the blocks and sashings
Sewing of the blocks and center medallion w/sashing & cornerstones complete
Auditioning another blue star option w/navy blue cornerstones for future reference
And another 'gold star' option w/navy blue sashings
Overall view w/Gold Stars and red or navy blue sashings being auditioned
Quilt of Valor quilt top completed w/borders, ready for embroideries
Every Quilt of Valor that includes this very special "Star field fabric", will have the following detailed inscription attached to the back of each quilt OR included w/the QOV in a card or note:

During the manufacturing of a flag, sometimes the thread breaks, making an incomplete star on the field of fifty.  With this malfunction, the entire field of stars cannot be used and must be destroyed. We have opted to create beautiful Quilts of Valor for our deserving Service Members and Veterans from this very special Star fabric that was originally destined for destruction.  We call the incomplete stars “ORPHAN STARS”.  Stars are selected at random and if you are lucky, you may receive an “ORPHAN STAR” that has a part missing.  These “ORPHAN STARS”, with missing parts, are a good representation of our wounded warriors.  Even though they may not appear ‘perfect’, they still stand for freedom, respect, pride, patriotism and the American way of life.  God Bless America.

We're adding the custom WW II naval embroideries now, and will post additional pictures when that next step of the creation process is complete.
