First 4-H Quilt Of Valor coming off the frame...

The very first Clark County 4-H Quilt of Valor from the QOV SPIN Club is coming off the frame on, how appropriate - Armed Forces Day...hoorah!

Phillip's Quilt of Valor coming off the frame!
You'll remember, Phillip was the first one to finish his QOV quilt top, and I promised to quilt each top in the order they were completed...CONGRATS, Phillip!

Here are a few pics of this really neat QOV quilt being quilted:

McTavished outside border

This is why I LOVE McTavishing:
Wavy border challenge

Wavy borders can be a challenge to deal with and they're far more common than most realize:

Pinning/ease-stitching the challenging border in place

One of my very favorite solutions is McTavishing and here's why:
McTavishing can 'absorb' ALL that extra fabric and tame a challenging border or quilt

The stars and loop panto is a better view from the back:

Dave Hudson Random Stars Panto w/McTavished border from the back

Last pass - all ready to come off the frame:
Final quilting pass prior to removing this colorful Quilt of Valor from the frame

UPDATE 5/18/2014:  Additional photos:

Close-up of panto and border quilting
The very First Clark County IL 4-H Quilt of Valor - just quilted and taken from the quilt frame...Hooray!

Phillip's Quilt of Valor Stats:

Congratulations, Phillip - your Quilt of Valor will look even more wonderful once it's bound and labeled, terrific job!

It has been a true honor and pleasure to play a role in helping create this Quilt of Valor...Thank YOU!

And now to load Anna's Quilt of Valor for quilting...

Dear Quilts of Valor Quilters

I wanted to remind you that May 9th through May 16th is the F+W sales event that will benefit Quilts of Valor Foundation.  For all purchases made from the following companies QOVF will receive 10% of the proceeds.

Please share this information with friends and family.

As Marianne Fons has already said, our QOVF volunteers donate time, labor, love, and fabric by making quilts. This sales event will give many thousands of additional quilters, sewers, knitters and crafters the opportunity to acknowledge the work of the Quilts of Valor Foundation. Shopping carts filled with books, patterns, videos, notions, fabrics, will deliver a great message of support for QOVF, so be sure to urge all your quilting, sewing, knitting, beading, and crafting friends to take part in the event, by shopping!

F+W Media, is a New York City-based content and e-commerce company, recently acquired the Fons & Porter and Keepsake brands. David Nussbaum, CEO of the company, who himself now wears a 2014 QOVF lapel pin, decided to celebrate F+W's acquisition by scheduling the online benefit event. Nussbaum said, "We recognize what QOVF does for America's veterans, and we want to help, too. In the past, we've benefited other non-profits such as the Susan B. Komen Foundation with such sales. Now we are eager to help Quilts of Valor Foundation."

In the run-up to the sales event, which ends the day before Armed Forces Day, F+W's branches will be promoting the benefit event heavily via its websites, blogs, and social media. Make your own shopping list and urge your friends to do the same.

How many carts can you and your friends fill for QOVF?

Thank you,
